Here is the next part of this series from:

Wedding planner : Bali Brides

The first time our team did a site visit to Wonderland Uluwatu we immediately understood how it got its name. Every detail of this venue has been so carefully designed and thought out to cater for the modern day bride and groom. From the pristine preparation suites to the whimsical joglo with ocean views, we will take you through why Wonderland Uluwatu is our top pick for wedding venues in Bali and everything you need to know to plan your special day there.

The first thing you should know about Wonderland Uluwatu is that it is one of a kind! There are currently only 3 private dedicated event venues in Bali that are not villas or attached to hotels or restaurants, meaning you get an exclusive space to create your own unique wedding.

We do recommend for this reason that you book in advance, normally 12-18 months in advance is a good idea to avoid missing out.

The second thing you need to know about Wonderland Uluwatu is that this is purely an event venue. Not a hotel or accommodation, not a restaurant with equipment ready to go and furniture. For this reason you will need to make sure you think of every aspect of planning an event here, this may mean hiring a wedding planner to make sure you have everything you need. But if you want to plan your own day then please read carefully as we outline our top tips and cover what you will need.

Ceremony -

Bali Brides

We recommend having an afternoon ceremony, due to the year round hot weather in Bali we would say anywhere from 3pm onwards for your ceremony to start. Ideally 4pm would be the best time, this will allow about half an hour for the actual ceremony, 1- 2 hours of photos after for the bridal table and then dinner and formalities just after the sun has set.

What will you need for your ceremony? Chairs for guests to sit, florals, sound system and most importantly a celebrant to marry you in front of your loved ones.

For furniture hire we loved the range from Bali Event Hire, classic Tiffany chairs, rustic cross back chairs or thier up and coming louis chairs can set the scene for your aisle. Celebrants are a personal touch and you want to have the perfect person to be standing up there with you as you say your vowels, we can not recommend the team at My Bali Celebrant enough with the largest range of celebrants to suit your personality.

Florals - Be sure to cover everything from your aisle petals to your bouquet, making a list of what you see in your typical wedding photos will help and then go from there.

Cocktail hour -

Bali Brides

Normally after a ceremony you will have a few photos with family and friends and then head with your now husband / wife and your bridal party to get some special snaps. But what does everyone else do? Cocktail hours is what we call the time post ceremony until it's time to sit down for dinner. During this time you will need some furniture for guests to pop drinks down on / sit, entertainment is nice and most importantly some drinks and / or canapes.

There are so many amazing companies to choose from on the island to suit your budget, taste and preferences. ABC, Vivre and Dijon are some of the more popular ones to choose from or if you want to browse all your options chat to your wedding planner or if you are more of a DIY couple we hear that Plan My Event Bali has special deals for every catering company on their website.

Reception time -

Ok this is the fun part, the formalities, the food, the party and you want to make it a memorable night for all of your guests.

Again furniture is important! Will your catering company provide this or do you need to hire tables and chairs? Maybe you are more casual and want to do something cocktail party style or boho with beanbags and mats. Whatever your vibe make sure you budget in to have enough furniture for your guests to be comfortable whilst eating or resting their dancing shoes.

Catering -

Bali Brides

Buffet, Canapes, Live stations or a sit down 5 course meal? What do you and your partner envision eating and how on your special night? Once you have an idea make sure you lock in the perfect caterer to make your guest mouths water and a bar company to keep the drinks flowing.

Atmosphere -

You have dinner, drinks and a place to sit, the rest is now setting the vibe for the night. You will need lighting so everyone is not eating in the dark - Fairy lights? Naked Festoon lights? White magical lanterns, make sure you book in lighting or chat to you planner about your options.

Florals and decor -

We love pinterest! So many ideas, colors, flowers, signage options, printing, fonts, candles and more that can take us down the rabbit hole of styling an event.

Key tip from our team is not to go overboard, try and pick a theme and stick to it. We have had past clients say to us they want a “boho” look but then pick mismatched signage, tropical florals, over the top fairy lights and more. Again this is where a planner can come in handy with reigning you in and making sure that everything is matched and romantic. Less can be more and with ocean views and beautiful gardens this is a venue you do not need to add a lot to make it beautiful

Little details -

Bali Brides

When planning a wedding don't forget about the little details that go into it all - Dance floor for dancing the night away, this will need to be hired, Seating charts and stationary - Will you bring this with you or have done in Bali to avoid the hassle of transporting it over and most importantly entertainment. Bali has an amazingly large range of talent on the island to choose from, we love fire dancers, djs and bands. If you want the full experience and a party vibe check our Lydia Rose, an aussie girl who started a band and dj all inclusive service for events.

Once you have the above covered you are almost there! Hair and makeup, Photography and other on the day services are an abundance and easy to find. But if this is all a bit overwhelming or you just feel like you could use some help this is where a wedding planner might be a good idea.

Bali Brides is an Australian run and Bali based wedding planning company who can help with every detail of your wedding day from helping choose florals, sourcing wedding favors, booking all of your suppliers and more. Currently one of the most recommended companies on the island for wedding planning the team goes above and beyond for all clients to ensure a stress free perfect day.

Whether you are having an elopement for 2, an intimate gathering of up to 30 guests or a party for 300 with everyone you know, Bali Brides can cater for all of your needs.
