Timeline for Planning a Bali Wedding in 2023

Updated: Dec 2, 2022

Timeline for Planning a Bali Wedding

Planning a wedding can be one of the most exciting times in your life but it can also be tiring. To make it easier, you need to make a timeline and a checklist of things to prepare and complete every month before the wedding. The average couple plans their wedding for around 13 months. If you are planning your wedding in 2023, it might be enough time to plan month by month with a wedding-planning checklist and timeline, so your wedding planning will be more fun, better managed and less stressful.

Here is an indicative timeline to help you prepare for your Bali wedding in 2023 after deciding the date and time of your wedding.

12+ Months out from the wedding

You should officially announce your engagement to loved ones and set a date for your wedding. Then, you need to start to begin early research on vendors, caterers, etc. Start browsing for your wedding decor themes, bridesmaid dress colours and set up your mood board on Pinterest.

12 months before the wedding

This is the time to determine your budget. Hire a wedding planner to help you arrange your budget. Start to survey your wedding venue. Book site visits and explore options for outdoor weddings and indoor villa weddings. Ideally, you would want to book your ceremony and reception venues 12 months prior to your wedding date. Start looking at wedding insurance as well. You will also want to draft your wedding guests list to have an estimate of the guest count.

11 Months before the wedding

Now it's time for you to finalise your wedding theme, color palette, and decoration. Find your vendors and assemble an all-star vendor team. Also, when you hire a vendor, don’t forget to get all the details in writing!

10 months out

Start shopping for your wedding dress. It's also the time to do an engagement photo shoot or a pre-wedding shoot. Build your gift registry online or instore. Continue to book your vendors. Finalize your guest list.

9 Months before the wedding

Send out save-the-date cards. Book hotel rooms for you, your close relatives and family. Start looking for an invitation design and order it. Ensure passports are valid on the date for the honeymoon. Start planning your honeymoon activities, and excursions.

8-7 Months before the wedding

Shop your bridesmaids dresses. Create a song list for ceremony and reception. Book the rehearsal-dinner venue. Hire the ceremony musicians. Order rental Items, such as specialty chairs, linens, draping, lounge furniture, white dance floor, etc. Finalize honeymoon plans and make bookings. If you have some weddings fitness goals in mind, this would be the time to start working on them.

6 Months before the wedding

Now is the time to organize a hair trial and book a hairdresser. Also meet with make up artists and finalize your wedding day look.

5 - 4 Months before the wedding

Send your formal wedding invitation now. Have your final tasting with the caterer. Select and order your wedding cake. Complete your hair and makeup trial. Brainstorm guest favors and gift bags.

3 Months before the wedding

Send out rehearsal-dinner invitations. Pick up your marriage license. Buy wedding-party gifts. Finalize your wedding day timeline with the planner.

1 to 2 Months before the wedding

Make sure to confirm & pay your vendors in full. A Bali wedding would mean banjar fees and security deposits. Make sure they have all been paid in full. Create the final seating chart. Order your place cards. Have a final venue walk-through and don't forget to break-in your wedding shoes! Speak to all your vendors and make sure everything is organised on their end.

Final week

Congratulations! You've made it to the final week of your wedding planning. Deep breaths now; most of the hard work is over. Now all that is left are the nitty-gritty details. Take care of things like : Refreshing your hair color, Getting your eyebrows done, pamper yourself with a Manicure/pedicure, a massage. Attend your final dress fitting and pack your bags for the honeymoon. Don’t forget your passport if you’re leaving the country, and confirm your travel arrangements.
